This month's meeting will be held on the third Sunday of the month rather than the fourth, which falls on El Mirage weekend. A substantial number of Chapter Five members plan to travel to El Mirage dry lake in southern California to attend the traditional gyroplane gathering put on by Chapter One. So many, in fact, that it was proposed we hold the September meeting at El Mirage.
But planning still needs to be done, and meeting on the 3rd Sunday provides one more opportunity to prepare for the event. Five gyros (that I know of) will be flying to El Mirage. Others are being trailered. Those who trailered last year still have clear memories of the agony of bouncing our beloved machines over the washboard entry road. This year some of us plan avoid the torture by meeting off the lakebed for off-loading and blade stringing, and fly in. This needs coordination with those members who have good local knowledge.
