Like a scene from Independence Day (the movie), a hardly-noticeable spot in the bright sky of a sunny day grew silently into a dark silhouette of alien spacecraft proportion. The roar of jet blast intensified as it flew past, yet the apparition showed no hint of wake or condensation trail. It wasn't a UFO, but the B2 flyby that had been promised for AirExpo 2000, which took place June 24th at Yuba County Airport.
The members of PRA Chapter 5 played an important part in the affair; alas, the account and pictures of the event won't appear in Rotorcraft, which recently changed editors. I guess I'll just write for our own chapter, and keep the insider jokes. [I am told that excerpts from the El Mirage account will appear in a future article on fly-ins. Thanks to the readers of the Oct newsletter who offered criticism and suggestions.]
