PRA Chapter 5 News: March 2002

The next club meeting will be at Nut Tree airport, March 24 at 1:00 PM.

Hello fellow PRA 5 members, it's time for our monthly meeting! This month the meeting will be at the Nut Tree Airport at 1:00 PM. (All the guys in Marysville remember guys drive up to Marysville every other month, it's only fair for you to come down to Vacaville.) Enough preaching...........

At this months meeting two projects can be viewed. Bob A. has the body to his RAF 2002 ( Robert- Aspegren-Flyer) available for lookers and find out why he is known as "Hacksaw Bob". Gary Brewer has his new, (original) RAF ready for inspection, it's a beauty. Bob A may even have his airframe there by meeting time. If not pictures should be available. I won't get into the projects too much as we need to save conversation for the meeting!

We have a new ultra Bandit completed and test flown, a two seat Bandit nearing completion and several new ideas from Joe Souza on the elimination of stick shake. Anyone suffering from a shaky stick-gyros only- should attend just to hear these new adjustments.

My Souza-barnett continues to make progress. The new landing gear, tail sections and nose wheel are completed. All I need is powder coating and final assembly-thanks Joe! When you guys see the changes you won't believe the difference this reconstruction made.

Other note worthy items: GEORGE FINISH YOUR GYRO SANDAL SEASON IS HERE BROTHER!

The Marysville airport has decided to sell the building Joe uses for his business. Joe and I have placed a bid in and we are assured we have first right of purchase. This is good news is we will remain in the center of the flight line for the Golden West Fly-in and we don't need to move the Gyros. It will also give us the second half of the (north) building which is equal in size to Joe's side. The price of hanger rent is anticipated to remain the same. However, because of the substantial out of pocket expense Joe and I have incurred, I must ask that all rents be kept current. I will provide a rent form for all in the future out lining the requirements. Sorry for the commercial.

This year we must do our best to increase participation and raise membership levels. If you have a friend or neighbor that expressed interest please invite them to attend a meeting or join us. The best way to get members is by demonstrating our machines at fly-ins and displaying our club loyalty. Let's set an agenda for attending this years fly-ins and attending any EAA meetings/flyin breakfasts we can go to and talk up Gyros. What do you say fellows? I would like to see our Web page up and running again, anyone interested? Mark Givans has been doing it but, he deserves a break. I would like to see our monthly meeting notes posted so all can read and be reminded of what took place, how does this sound?

This year let's make safety a priority. We are all rusty and need brush up flight lessons. For those who think they can lay off for months and still fly well or for those that think lessons cost too much, ask Gary Brewer to see his new purchase. The story behind his purchase is interesting. Don't ask to purchase any parts from Gary, I haven't finished my shopping. ha ha.

In conclusion, look at the news, Why? so you can be reminded of the great freedoms we all have! As Americans and PRA members, Giorgi too, let's support our troops by using our freedom to fly and fly often as a tribute!

unrelated information: I have been offered a dog. A two year lab mix that requires the owner to run or walk daily. If anyone is searching for a dog that has high energy, likes everyone and has basic training, call me (530) 666-4214. Trinity is her name and she needs a home.

Happy landings - Bob L.
